35 NCS Students Win Honors in Arts Contest

Thirty-five NCS students -- more than 10 percent of the Upper School -- were recognized this week as winners in the regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. This annual competition, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, honors students with exceptional artistic and literary talent.

Seven students won Gold Keys for creating the most accomplished works in the region, and they will now advance to the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition, where winners receive scholarships. Silver Keys were awarded for distinguished works, and promising works received honorable mention.

Seven students won multiple awards: Georgia Currie '18, Naomi Davy '18, Farah Emory-Muhammad '18, Mallory Moore '18, Lexi Novak '18, Eva Phelps '18, and Macallan Penberthy '17. Alexa Perlmutter '17 was recognized for the fourth consecutive year, Alexandra Farje '16 for the third consecutive year, and Penberthy and Paulina Song '18 for the second.
