Cathedral Soccer Wins ISL AA Tournament

The NCS varsity soccer team captured its third Independent School League tournament championship in five years on Sunday, Nov. 6, with a 3-1 victory over Potomac School.

NCS defeated the top two seeds in the ISL tournament in back-to-back matches. Potomac, which had beaten NCS 3-0 during the regular season, was seeded second, and Bullis was ranked first. But the Eagles knocked off the Bulldogs 1-0 in the semifinals in a match played at Bullis.

In the final, NCS grabbed the lead right away with a brilliant goal by midfielder Sophie Searby '19 off a corner kick. After halftime, Sara Wanyana-Tyaba '19 scored twice on breakaways to give the Eagles an insurmountable lead. The victory completed a 10-4-4 season for the Eagles. Way to go Eagles!
