New Faculty Chairs Appointed

NCS has several endowed faculty chairs, thanks to the generosity of parents, alumnae, and friends. On August 28, 2014, Head of School Kathleen O’Neill Jamieson announced the latest appointments:

Mathematics Teacher Dolores Hamilton has been appointed to the Cissy Patterson Chair, established in June 1985 through the generosity of the Cissy Patterson Foundation, which was created through the estate of Eleanor “Cissy” Josephine Medill Patterson. As an endowment of NCS, the Cissy Patterson Chair provides funding for a faculty member to advance the study of mathematics and its application in a manner that enhances teaching and curriculum development.

Social Sciences Teacher David Sahr has been appointed to the Elizabeth G. Chisholm Chair for Middle School Studies, established in 1983 by the family of Mrs. Chisholm ’20 and The Chisholm Foundation. As the first endowed faculty program of the National Cathedral School, the Elizabeth G. Chisholm Chair provides funding for a faculty member to advance study in a particular field and to apply knowledge in a way that enhances teaching and curriculum development.

Science Teacher Sheila Gupta is the latest recipient of the Allnutt New Teachers Fund, established in loving memory of Fred and Gladys Allnutt by their daughter Eleanor “Pixie” Kubeck ’55. The Fund provides annual support to new faculty members of the National Cathedral School during their first and second years of teaching. Income from the Fund may support professional development activities, including travel expenses and conference fees.
