Cathedral Crew travelled to Philadelphia last weekend to compete in the storied Stotesbury Regatta, the world's oldest and largest high school regatta. All Cathedral boats, 1st 8+, 2nd 8+, Frosh 8+, and Senior 4+ made it out of the time trial and advanced. In a field of 50 boats, many of which are made up of a program’s top rowers, Julia Messick '16, Lexi Novak '18, Zoe Lindahl '16, and coxswain Maeve Murphy '17 placed 11th in the time trial, marking the first time a four from NCS has progressed in the four event.
The second eight of Camilla Ryder '18, Grace Farran '17, Annabelle Rice '17, Arianna DiGregorio '16, Eva Phelps '18, Rory Meyer '18, Kat Sniezek '17, Caroline Garcia '18 and coxswain Sophie Dunn '18 dominated from start to finish, winning the time trial, cruising through the semi-final, and winning Gold by open water. This marks the first time in school history that the second eight boat won this regatta!
The first eight of Sophie Bredenkamp '17, Naomi Davy '18, Hadley Irwin '16, Isabel Bogart '16, Hannah Yazdani '18, Serena Irwin '17, Beata Corcoran '18, Amelia Parizek '18 and coxswain Kendall Green '16 placed second in the time trial behind Mount Saint Joseph, placed first in their semi final, and raced on to win a gold medal in the finals. Mirroring their teammates, they finished first in this regatta for the first time in school history!
