The varsity 8+ took third place May 28 at the national championships of high school rowing.

National Cathedral School's varsity crew took third place May 28 at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America Regatta — the national championships of high school rowing.

The Eagles — Sophie Bredenkamp '17, Naomi Davy '18, Hadley Irwin '16, Isabel Bogart '16, Hannah Yazdani '18, Serena Irwin '17, Beata Corcoran '18, Amelia Parizek '18, and coxswain Kendall Green '16 — cut six seconds off their semifinal-winning time in the final to edge out Mount Saint Joseph Academy (Pa.) for the bronze in the women's 8+ grand final. New Trier (Ill.) and Saratoga (N.Y.) took first and second place, respectively.

The result capped a phenomenal season for the NCS crew: Three eights claimed state championships, and two won gold medals at the Stotesbury Regatta. Only once before in Stotesbury history has a school won both the women's 1v and 2v in the same year.

Congratulations to all the team members!
