Organizational Coach

NCS seeks an organizational coach for a temporary appointment (October 2, 2020 to June 11, 2021) in the Teaching and Learning Center serving students in Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools for the 20-21 school year to support teachers and families in the hybrid learning model necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Working with the guidance of the Co-Directors of the Teaching and Learning Center, this position supports students to become successful learners and self-advocates, helping students make full use of school-based resources. In addition, this person serves as a classroom facilitator when NCS moves to blended learning.  Qualified candidates will have experience working with students in a school setting and be knowledgeable about current research relevant to students in grades 4-12.  Additionally, qualified candidates hold a master’s degree in psychology, education or special education or other related field, as well as experience working with students of varying levels of ability.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Working with students individually and in small groups to develop executive function skills and effective study strategies,
  • Developing, within students, more effective reading and writing skills related to school-assignments,
  • Supporting students with Formal Written Plans,
  • Communicating with teachers to support student learning,
  • Interacting positively and developing supportive relationships with students as a trusted mentor adult.
  • Serving as a classroom facilitator when on-campus learning resumes
    • aiding with setting up basic classroom technology for remote students and teachers, and facilitating classroom activities in the event a teacher is participating remotely,
    • supervising students in assigned tasks,
    • supporting students and facilitating connection during lessons where the teacher is remotely connected,
    • managing classroom, including attendance and helping students to adhere to social distancing guidelines, health and safety protocols, and classroom expectations,
School working hours for this position are between 7:45 and 3:45 Monday through Friday.
Successful applicants will exhibit good judgment and ability to maintain safety of all students, and a dedication to the care and support of students in their learning. Previous experience working with children necessary. Term of employment is for school year 20-21.
