Long Term Upper School Social Sciences Sub

National Cathedral School announces a search for a long-term substitute teacher in the History/Social Sciences Department of its Upper School (grades 9 to 12) beginning January/February 2022 (specific date to be determined). This position is a commitment to teach a full-time schedule of Grade-nine World History classes for most (or perhaps all) of the second semester. We seek candidates who have experience teaching at the secondary level.  Primary-source driven, our curriculum focuses on the development of students’ analytical thinking, critical reading, and persuasive writing skills.  Qualified candidates should hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in history or geography; a Master’s degree is preferred.

The school day is from about 7:45 a.m. through about 4:00 pm.  Outside of the classroom, all NCS teachers are asked to perform an additional duty, such as advising a homeroom or club.  Salaries are competitive, based on experience, and the position includes a benefits package.

NCS is committed to leadership in multicultural education and a culturally diverse faculty and staff. The school therefore seeks applications from candidates who will contribute to an atmosphere in which all are valued and supported.
