As the new year begins, we wanted to share some initial information on dates for the 2024-2025 school year for your planning purposes. As a reminder, next year school will start a week earlier for all NCS and STA students so that we may hold Upper School exams before winter break.
Below are dates for our big breaks during the school year, along with information about pre-season sports. By March, we will share our full major dates calendar that will list all holidays and school closures, along with other critical dates.
Pre-Season Sports Dates • August 18 - 25: Cross-Country Camp • August 19 - 23: Mandatory Upper School Fall Sports Tryouts (soccer, field hockey, tennis, volleyball)
Start of School Year • August 26: First Day of School
Major School Closures During School Year • August 30 - September 2: Labor Day Weekend (classes resume Tuesday, Sept. 3) • November 27 - December 1: Thanksgiving Break (classes resume on Monday, Dec. 2) • December 23 - January 5: Winter Break (classes resume on Monday, Jan. 6) • March 17 - 30: Spring Break (classes resume on Monday, March 31)
Note this list does not include all holidays and school closures. Throughout the year, some of our traditional long weekends will be shifting. Families planning college visits or other travel during those times are encouraged to wait until the full calendar is released.
