When Tucker Carlson came to speak to the eighth grade at NCS on Wednesday, October 17, he discussed his past careers ranging from talk-show host to journalist to a performer on "Dancing with the Stars." He currently is a pundit on his television show, "Tucker."
Many students wanted to learn more about Mr. Carlson and his opinions on subjects such as the Iraq War, healthcare, and the candidates for the 2008 elections. He helped many of us understand the presidential race better, and when he was asked questions about the leading candidates, he took it one step further, saying that he could predict that Hillary Clinton will be the next president of the United States.
The audience also asked questions about journalism and advice for careers in the field. He responded with tips that had been useful to him and that he thought would be useful for the students of NCS.
He filled the room with laughter as easily as he made both children and adults quiet, intent on his words. Mr. Carlson had an enormous impact on the eighth grade class. We thank him for spending his time teaching us more about politics, journalism, and the relationship between the two.
