Six NCS rising juniors and seniors participated in a NCS service trip to work on a Habitat for Humanity project in Questa, New Mexico June 14-20, 2009. The girls plastered, nailed, sanded, painted, and graded the ground to help finish a home. The trip was organized by the NCS Community Service office, directed by Janice Peters.
One highlight was dinner provided by the homeowner-to-be , who shared her story with the girls. The group also visited the area’s historic sites, including Taos Pueblo and the cliff dwellings of the Anasazi at Bandelier National Monument, an hour west of Taos. Student participants included: Zayna Bakizada ’11, Christina Boulineaux ’10, Kate Carome ’11, Luise Dziobek-Garrett ’10, Sally Marmet ’11 and Gabrielle Newell ’10; chaperones were Beverly Hill, assistant to the director of the Lower Schoool, and Susan Merritt, physical education teacher.
