In Open Water.” Lida Benson traced the hero’s journey that lies ahead for her classmates in “
Jesus, Star Wars, Simba, and Us.” In “

Inspirational quotes were offered by Ali Fauci, Emily Lazerwitz, Liz Adamson, and Campbell Frank. Katie Kiernan, Katherine Nabel, and Sarah Timreck shared a reading from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Christina Larson, Emily Weiswasser, and Rachel Ing read from “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.” Spot Winslow gave the offertory sentences; Caitlin McClure and Nikki Prue, the prayers of the community.
Musical selections included “Broken Road,” sung by members of Ms. Bohlen’s homeroom; “Wagon Wheel,” sung by Brett Andersen, Juliana Canfield, and Winnie Warner; and “The Time of Your Life,” sung by seniors from Chorale, Madrigal Singers, and Sarsaparilla. A beautiful dance performance to “Here’s to the Night” was performed by Lida Benson, Christine Boulineaux, Margaret Cowie, Madeline Duff, Lori Jones, and Gabrielle Newell.
At the conclusion of the service, all seniors took the stage to sing the moving “Wild Mountain Thyme,” an informal anthem of the school that caused many faculty, parents, and students in attendance to wipe away tears.
In closing, Senior Class President Molly Hayes announced the official transfer of leadership from the seniors to the juniors. The seniors made bracelets for the juniors, which they found waiting for them in their new seats on the left side of the nave.
All present agreed it was a beautifully conceived and executed service. “Today’s service was beautiful because of how clearly it reflected our graduates. Their choices, their voices, their grace!" said Head of School Kathleen O’Neill Jamieson. “In the hands of the Class of 2010 this NCS tradition of a service created by the seniors was very powerful and moving."
