Whitechapel Guild Featured in Washington Post

NCS' band of bell-ringers were the subject of a front-page feature on Friday, Nov. 26.

The article by reporter Steve Hendrix notes that NCS is "one of only three in the country to offer courses in the ancient art of change ringing, the complex technique of sounding the grand, rhythmic peals of cathedral bells that mark occasions ranging from the end of a Mass to the end of a war."

You can read the feature and see the online photo gallery by Post photographer Carol Guzy by clicking here.  Our thanks to Whitechapel Guild Coordinator Quilla Roth and NCS Website and Portal Manager Alexander Taft, who assists with the Guild, for helping explain the art and appeal of change ringing.

Coincidentally, the Fall 2010 NCS Magazine includes a feature by Quilla Roth about the Whitechapel Guild and the many alumnae who have taken part in it.  The magazine will be mailed to the NCS community in early December.

In other holiday press, the Christian Post (no relationship to the Washington Post) noted NCS' role in making the pumpkin pies served by President Obama and his family who volunteered at Martha's Table: you can read that article here.
