Previously at the school she served as the assistant director of studies, and taught 7th- and 8th-grade US history. She was also the self-study coordinator for Indian Mountain during its re-accreditation process. She has been a visiting committee member for the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools accreditation program
From 2009 to 2010 Mrs. Soja taught 9th grade ancient history at the Millbrook School in Millbrook, NY.
Mrs. Soja holds a B.A. from Bates College, where she majored in political science; her thesis topic was “Women in Social Protest: Gender Constructions in the Activism of Women in South Africa.” She also holds an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where her concentration was in learning and teaching.
Mrs. Soja is married to Kevin Soja, who is Dean of Students at Episcopal High School; they have two sons: Russell, 4, and William, 2. Mrs. Soja has a passion for coaching and athletics, and has coached lacrosse and soccer at the middle and high school level. She is also an avid reader.
Current NCS Middle School Director Dr. Scott Erickson is assuming a new role as Head of School for the Phillips Brooks School, an independent coed elementary school in Menlo Park, California, as of July 1, 2011.
"I am grateful to the many faculty, staff, students, and parents who interviewed Mrs. Soja and other excellent candidates," said Mrs. Jamieson. "We are delighted with the conclusion of our search and look forward to welcoming Mrs. Soja and her family to NCS."
