Alumna’s Play about Zelda Fitzgerald Now Playing Off-Broadway
Alumna and former NCS teacher Pat Lin '60 has written a new play, “Zelda at the Oasis,” which opened in NYC this month.
Alumna and former NCS teacher Patricia Hurston Pearlstein Lin ’60 has a new play, “Zelda at the Oasis, “ which opened this month at St. Luke's Theatre in NYC, located at Times Square on West 46th Street.
The play tells the story of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, wife of legendary American novelist, F. Scott Fitzgerald, who wants nothing more than to be recognized as an artist in her own right. Two things stand in her way: a growing mental instability and the overbearing shadow of her husband.
On this magical night in the 1930’s, Zelda discovers The Club Oasis, a New York City bar where she has escaped to drink alone…until a unique and unexpected friendship is forged with an aspiring musician who plays piano and tends bar at the Oasis.
Pat reports that many of her classmates have come to see, or plan to attend, the show. Betsy Christenberry Holleman ‘60 recently shared a note with classmates:
“I had the great privilege of seeing Zelda at the Oasis, Pat Lin's play about F. Scott Fitzgerald's troubled wife, during the Thanksgiving holiday. I can report that it is simply wonderful with two fantastic actors, a young director on his way to Broadway greatness in the new year. All the elements -- script, lighting, staging, music are perfect . . . Pat should be proud of her achievement -- something millions of playwrights dream about and never achieve. Hooray for Pat!”
Pat has arranged for NCS alumnae to receive a discount of 50% off the regular ticket price by using the code ZEGENDIS at BroadwayOffers.com or by bringing this offer to the St. Luke’s Theatre box office at 308 W. 46th Street, NYC.
