Blair Kaine Named Outstanding Fundraising Professional

NCS’s capital campaign director is honored by her fundraising peers in Washington, DC.
NCS Capital Campaign Manager Blair Kaine was honored as the year’s “Outstanding Fundraising Professional” by the Washington, DC chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). An awards luncheon at the J.W. Marriott Hotel was held on the 12th Annual National Capital Philanthropy Day, Nov. 12, 2013.
 
Since Kaine joined NCS in 2009, over $12 million has been raised by NCS’s capital campaign to support the renovation of the Woodley North campus, the endowment, and financial aid for students.
 
In her acceptance remarks,  Kaine said:
 
“I’m here to accept this award only as a representative of our group of fundraising professionals. This remarkable team is led by Kathleen Jamieson, our visionary Head of School, and Jenny Chiang, our innovating Assistant Head for Advancement. Each of us is looking for ways to make an NCS education not only the best it can be, but one that is affordable and accessible to the best and brightest of our region.”
 
She also noted the achievements of NCS alumnae:
 
“At NCS, we say that we are ‘educating women for the world.’ Around the globe today, some of these women are, for example:
  •  Administering clinical trials for new cancer treatments.
  • Revising the curriculum for the girls’ school that she established in Malawi.
  • Prosecuting war crimes in the Hague.
  • Adjusting to life back homes after two tours of duty in Afghanistan.
  • Advising the President on the Syrian conflict.
And, I’m certain that there must be at least one NCS alumna in this room right now.   Because these extraordinary women are—like you—trying to change their world.   They—and the young women who are hard at work in our classrooms and labs today—inspire the efforts of the NCS Advancement team every day.”
