ALIVE Child Development Center
The child development center is a full-day preschool program serving children of low income working parents. Although there are no volunteer opportunities with the child development center, there are opportunities with ALIVE House, food distribution and furniture deliver.
 
Area clubs in the District, Maryland and Virginia offer academic enrichment, athletic and extracurricular and cultural opportunities for boys and girls.
 
Boys Town
Boys town as two goals: to equip children with the skills they need to become a caring, responsible adult and to strengthen struggling families. To help, you can share the message of the organization and make a donation.

Childcare and tutoring services are provided to children living in shelters. Transitional assistance programs are available to parents seeking employment and housing.
 
Children's Inn at NIH
The Children’s Inn at NIH supports the entire family by offering recreational, therapeutic, wellness, educational and spiritual programming. At Children’s NIH, volunteers will sit at the welcome desk, maintain indoor and outdoor plants, and support the staff through data processing and typing out mailings.
 
Children's National Medical Center
Children’s Hospital specializes in pediatric care. Volunteers under 18 can participate in the summer high school volunteer program to gain valuable experience as well as become an ambassador to plan activities for patients.
 
Community Bridges
Community Bridges is an organization that provides leadership and empowerment for girls. The volunteer opportunities at community bridges include becoming a programming assistant (helping with special events and phone calls to parents) although the mandatory time commitment is from 1-6 Mondays-Thursdays during the fall and spring. As well, you can volunteer on the board of directors which meets every other month.
 
Health Services for Children with Special Needs
Health services for children with special needs proves care to children and young adults with special needs. Teenagers 16 years or older can volunteer to help with the Department of Family and Community development.
 
National Center for Children and Families
The mission of the NCCF is to create a healthy living environment for vulnerable children and families. Volunteers 14 years or older can assist in the Big Buddy tutoring program, answer phones, teach art classes and participate in landscape projects.
 
Rosemount Center
Rosemont is an early childhood education center (Spanish and English) serving 300 children and families each year. Volunteers can work as a classroom aid or a special event assistant.
 
Sasha Bruce Youthwork
Sasha Bruce Youthwork improves the lives of homeless, runaway, abused and neglected youth and their families. Volunteers can help set up/take down before and after special event days as well as help tutor children with basic schoolwork.
 
St. Ann's Center for Children, Youth and Families
St. Ann’s Program is focused on creating a positive environment for children and families in crisis. St. Ann’s volunteers will sew curtains for newly renovated areas.
