Varsity Field Hockey Falls to St. John's, 2-0

The NCS Varsity Field Hockey team lost 2-0 at home on October 16 to non-league opponent St. John's.  St. John's was able to score two goals in the first half against NCS, and held the Eagles without a shot in the first half.  In the second half, NCS was able to move the ball more effectively, with midfielders Meghan McGovern '17, Rosie Delk '16, and Natalie Belt '16 winning more midfield possession battles, and the forward line of Selin Everett '17, Margaret Dent '16, Claire McGinnis '17, and Siobhan Robinson-Marshall '16 succeeded in earning several penalty corners.  The St. John's defense held firm, however, and the Eagles were unable to cut into the lead.  NCS did tighten up its own defense, holding St. John's scoreless in the second half, with defender Domi Turner '16 providing a spark with her aggressive, hustling play on the back line.  NCS goalie Sam Gibby '19 had 13 saves on the day.
