Voyageur Director Recognized by St. Albans Alum

The Director of the Voyageur Program (a coordinate program with NCS/STA), John Velosky, was recognized this fall by a member of the Stanford University freshmen class citing him as the teacher who was most meaningful to his high school experience.  Richard Randall, a member of of the St. Albans graduating class of 2015, reflected upon his time in high school as part of a program that Stanford University asks of their incoming freshmen class.  Randall chose Coach Velosky as the one person who had the most significant effect on him throughout his time at St. Albans.

The Voyageur Program emphasizes a culture of inclusion and support. Students are expected to participate and contribute as a valued member of the community. Every member is taught to seek out and assume responsible leadership roles whenever possible. Voyageur Program alumni leave with refined critical-thinking skills, more effective personal/interpersonal communication and leadership skills, and a developed sense of sound judgment essential to safe wilderness travel. These skills offer the lifelong rewards of increased personal health, greater self confidence, and a commitment towards stewardship, conservation, and enjoyment of the natural environment.

Richard Randall graduated with four years of experience with the Voyageur Program and pointed to his time with Velosky as helpful in shaping who he is today.
Thank you for all that you do for our students on the Close, Coach Velosky!
