Varsity Tennis Team Wins the ISL!
The Cathedral Varsity Tennis team defeated Holton-Arms in a close match (4-3) on Friday and took home the ISL Tournament Championship!
The team began the ISL Tournament last week by defeating St. Stephen's and St. Agnes (7-0) in the first round on the newly renovated courts on St. Albans campus. On Thursday the girls played The Potomac School in the Semi-Finals at East Potmac Park and took home another victory, 5-2. The next day the team travelled to Flint Hill for the Finals against Holton-Arms, and won 4-3! Winning matches for the Eagles were Lizzie Baker '17 at number 1 singles, Chidimma Okpara '19 at number 2 singles, Ly-Lan Schaszberger '16 at number 4 singles, and the number 1 doubles team of Ally Lorico '17 and Morgan Thompson '16.
In addition to winning the ISL Tournament Banner on Friday, the Cathedral Tennis team also won a share of the Regular Season Banner. With their only loss coming at the hands of The Bullis School, the NCS team finished the ISL regular season in a three-way tie with both Bullis and Holton-Arms.
