NCS Climbing Team Wins WAICL Championship

The NCS Indoor Climbing team travelled to Earth Treks in Crystal City on Sunday for the Washington Area Interscholastic Climbing League (WAICL) championship competition and came home with the first place trophy!

The climbing team went undefeated in their league this winter winning all five of their competitions in both bouldering and top roping.  The girls went into the championship meet with a strategy of staying focused and calm in an effort to continue to climb their best.

Tindall Adams '18 had the second highest score of the meet with a 42 after two hours of climbing.  Two of her teammates, Becca Davis '17 (40 points) and Emma Glasser '18 (40 points), tied for the third place position with a climber from GDS.  The three third place finishers climbed one last route to break the tie but the GDS climber out-scored the Eagles in the tie-breaker.

Emily Kim '20 finished with 39 points, Anika Jones '19 finished with 38 points, and Olivia Vella '19 finished with 36.  The six climbers combined for a total of 199 points, 19 points more than Episcopal who came in second.  Five out of the six NCS climbers finished in the top-ten scores in this meet - which bodes well for climbing seasons to come!

Congratulations, Eagles!
