Alarie '16 Named to Team USA in Basketball

Bella Alarie '16 was named Sunday to Team USA's U19 World Cup basketball team, which will compete in July in Italy.

This is Alarie's first appearance on a national squad. She joins Team USA off a season where she led Princeton University in scoring, rebounding, three-point field goal percentage, and blocked shots and set a school record for blocked shots by a freshman. At season's end, she was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

"I'm so excited," she told USA Basketball. "This is an incredible opportunity, and I'm so excited to represent this country. I think I played my heart out this weekend, and I'm glad that showed to the staff and committee."

The U19 World Cup was originally known as the FIBA Junior World Championship, and Team USA is 73-12 all-time in the tournament, winning the past six gold medals.

Congratulations to Bella! We look forward to seeing her represent the red, white, and blue in Italy.
