Sniezek '15, Alarie '16 Headed for NCAA Basketball Tournament

For the first time ever, two NCS alumnae have reached the NCAA women's basketball tournament, and their teams will tip-off this weekend.

Marta Sniezek '15, a junior guard, will join 4th-seeded Stanford (22-10) in playing West Coast Conference champion Gonzaga (27-5) on Saturday afternoon at Palo Alto, Calif. Sniezek, an honorable mention all-defensive Pac Ten selection this year, averaged 5.4 points and 4.3 assists per game. Last year, she averaged 5.6 assists a game in the NCAA Tournament as the Cardinal reached the Final Four, and she has played in all nine of Stanford's NCAA games over the past two years.

Bella Alarie '16, a sophomore forward, and 12th-seeded Princeton (24-5) will face Maryland (25-7) on Friday at Raleigh, N.C. Alarie is the Ivy League's player of the year after averaging 13.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.4 blocked shots as the Tigers won the conference title and postseason tournament. This will be Alarie's first trip to the NCAAs.

Stanford was placed in the Kansas City bracket, while Princeton is in the Lexington, Ky. bracket, so the two teams could not face each other until the Final Four on March 30.
