NCS Hosts 8 Area Schools for MAESA Scholars Fair

NCS played host to eight area Episcopal schools on April 27 when it presented the Mid-Atlantic Episcopal School Association's Scholars Fair in Woodley North. More than 170 students in grades 4-8 took part in a variety of competitions: spelling and geography bees, art and science fairs, and multimedia presentations. They also enjoyed one non-competitive, team-building activity, the Design Challenge, in the Middle School Commons.

Three NCS students won awards: Maya Popova '22 won a first place in art, while Stephanie Dragoi '24 and Natalie Garre '24 took first and third place, respectively, in multimedia. Dragoi's entry was an animated presentation on the Tao Te Ching, created for her sixth-grade history class, while Garre's presentation looked at Denali National Park—part of an ongoing series by 6th-grade students this year for Lower School assemblies.

Students from St. Albans School, Christ Episcopal School, Grace Episcopal Day School, St. Andrew's Episcopal School, St. John's Episcopal School, St. Patrick's Episcopal School, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School, and Washington Episcopal School joined NCS at the Scholars Fair. NCS faculty served as event coordinators and judges, and our guests seemed to enjoy all the varied spaces in Woodley North, from Curran Courtyard to Grace Chapel to the Gray Library.

Photos from the day are posted in the Media Gallery. We look forward to the MAESA Scholars Fair's return next April!
