4 NCS Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

Four NCS seniors are among the 16,000 students nationwide named Wednesday as semifinalists by the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program, establishing them among the top 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors who took last fall's test.

Katie Klingler ’19, Nicole Owens ’19, Olivia Vella’19, and Maggie Wang ‘19 were chosen based on their score last October on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, taken by about 1.6 million high school juniors each year.

These four students are now eligible to apply for consideration as a National Merit Finalist, a determination based on test scores, academic records, recommendations, and essays. The National Merit organization will announce the finalists in February.
