2 Seniors Named Presidential Scholar Semifinalists

Two NCS seniors have been selected as semifinalists for the 2019 Presidential Scholars Program, one of the nation's highest honors for graduating high school students.

Esther Eriksson von Allmen '19 and Maggie Wang '19 are among six semifinalists in the District of Columbia. They were chosen by a national committee of educators, who evaluated some 3,500 candidates—including eight from NCS—on academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, community involvement, and strong character.

The semifinalists will now be evaluated by the Commission on Presidential Scholars, which will announce its selections next month. Each year, the commission honors up to 161 scholars, who are recognized in a June ceremony sponsored by the White House.

This marks the second time in three years that the Presidential Scholars Program named two NCS students as semifinalists.

Congratulations to both Esther and Maggie!
