NCS Awards Year-End Honors at Annual Flag Day

NCS celebrated one of its oldest traditions on June 7 with its annual Flag Day prize ceremony. Ninety seniors were individually recognized before an audience of NCS students, parents, and friends outside the Washington National Cathedral, and 35 awards, touching on every department in the school, were bestowed on students in three grades.

Blaise Pelote '19 was chosen by her senior classmates to deliver the Flag Day address, and Head of School Kathleen O'Neill Jamieson presented NCS's highest academic honor, the Flag, to Esther Eriksson von Allmen '19 and Dorothy Shapiro '19. The award recognizes the senior with the highest grade point average based on the average of the junior and senior end-of-year academic records.

NCS faculty and staff members announced the winners of other awards, and Mrs. Jamieson recognized and thanked retiring Director of Counseling Sandi Krotman and Admissions Assistant Elizabeth Wilson for their many contributions to NCS students. Transportation Driver Edward Magoba was also recognized for his 47 years of service.
