5 Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

Five NCS seniors are among 16,000 students nationwide named as semifinalists this week in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. This honor establishes them among the top 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors who took last fall's PSAT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test).
 
Josephine Freis '21, Ashley Fujiyama '21, Lauren Ives '21, Sarah Muoio '21, and Katherine Robinson '21 were selected on the basis of their scores last October on the PSAT, which is taken by about 1.6 million high school juniors each year.
 
The five semifinalists are now eligible to apply for consideration as a National Merit Finalist, a determination based on test scores, academic records, recommendations, and essays. The National Merit Scholarship Corp. will announce the finalists in February.
