NCS Literary Magazine and Artist Win Top Honors
The American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA) awarded “First Place” in its annual magazine competition to the 90th volume of Half in Earnest (HIE), NCS’s literary magazine. In a letter notifying the school about HIE's win, ASPA wrote: “Your ability to keep your publication alive and printing during a pandemic is a testament to your dedication and devotion to your publication, school, community…and to each other.”
Additionally, ASPA awarded “Best Artist” to Sarah Asher ‘21 for her original illustration, "Sight.” ASPA praised Asher’s piece, stating: "The detail of the eye, eyebrow and eyelashes is beautifully executed – you can even see the grey hair in the eyebrow.”
Congratulations to Sarah; the 2021 HIE faculty sponsors, Dr. Alexandra Sundman and Adison Lax; and the editors-in-chief, Aanya Hudda ‘21 and Bilena Dabalen ‘21.
