Performing Arts Banquet Puts Spotlight on Kate Eberstadt '09 and Lily Holleman '98
Kate Eberstadt NCS '09 and Alex Basil STA '09 were named "Outstanding Performing Artists" at the May 18 Performing Arts Banquet. Each year, one senior girl and one senior boy are selected by a combined vote of the NCS and St. Albans Upper School students.
The recipients have their names inscribed on a plaque. The award, established eight years ago, is donated by Joyce Brentley, former STA parent , and her son Nick STA '02.
The awards announcement was part of a festive evening program that featured NCS alumna Lily Holleman '98, an actress who's already earned an impressive number of stage and television credits. Holleman delighted the audience with a musical reprise of her role as Adelaide in "Guys and Dolls." Her comments on life and art, as well as her Christopher Walken imitation, also drew laughter and applause: she credits NCS with "allowing me to express my individuality."
Event cochairs Lydia Benson (Lida NCS '10) and Anna Stewart (Charles STA '10) should take a bow for an evening that received rave reviews from all, along with Performing Arts Department Head Ben Hutto and the talented and indefatigable performing arts faculty.
