Varsity Basketball Remains Undefeated in ISL

The Cathedral Varsity Basketball Team is off to a great start so far this season boasting a 6-0 record in the ISL.  The team's only loss came at the hands of Elizabeth Seton, a member of the WCAC and currently ranked 6th in the area.  Most recently, the team defeated ISL opponent Flint Hill in a doubleheader played in Martin's gym on St. Albans' campus by a score of 62-31.  In addition, the team recorded wins over St. Stephen's and St. Agnes, Sidwell Friends, Stone Ridge, Georgetown Day School and Holton-Arms.

Junior stand-out Marta Sniezek '15 currently leads the MD/VA/DC area in points-per-game with an average of 29.6 and is ranked 18th in free throw percentage with 81.5%.  But perhaps just as impressive, Sniezek '15 dished out 17 assists in her last game against Flint Hill often setting her teammates up for easy buckets.  Bella Alarie '16 put up 27 points in the win over the Huskies, and had 9 blocked shots and 6 steals.

The team is getting ready to play ISL powerhouse Georgetown Visitation next week in a game that will have ISL regular season banner winner implications.  Visitation is currently ranked 14th in the area having just lost a close game to Good Counsel.  The matchup is slated for Friday, January 24th at 5:45 PM in Schifter Gym at NCS.
