Chinese Dance Students Coming in February

In March 2013, dance and language students from NCS and St. Albans conducted a first-ever exchange trip to Beijing, China. At Beijing High School No. 9, which has a prestigious dance program, US and Chinese students took dance classes together and ultimately presented a dance gala at a local theater. The trip was jointly led by NCS/STA Dance Program Director Vladimir Angelov and Chinese Teacher Ted Xu.

Now, a group of students and teachers from Beijing High School No. 9, led by their principal, Lin Leguang, will make a three-city (DC, Philadelphia, Boston) tour of the United States in February.  They will visit the NCS campus on Thursday, Feb. 6, and the morning of Friday, Feb. 7. NCS families will host the 22 students during their stay here.

Mirroring the Beijing experience,  NCS/STA dance teachers will lead master classes for the group. The Chinese dancers will also perform on the Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center on Friday, Feb. 7 at 6:00 pm. Admission is free and all from the NCS community are encouraged to attend to show our support of this spectacular troupe!

Beyond dancing, our Chinese guests are eager to learn more about what school life is like in the US. They will visit NCS classrooms, take part in an NCS Cathedral service, and also attend a basketball game in the Athletic Center. During the weekend, they will tour the major sights of the nation’s capital.

We look forward to the arrival of our Chinese guests and know that our community will give them a warm welcome.
