SAT vs. ACT Preview for Sophomores: Monday, June 1
All sophomores are expected to attend this event, which is designed to a. provide students with a simulated standardized test experience and b. expose them to the *new* SAT and ACT. Results and projected scores will be sent to students in July; each member of the Class of 2017 can then make a choice regarding which test to take “for real” in spring 2016. (Note that the Class of 2017 will have an additional opportunity to practice each test in fall 2015; on-campus test preparation classes will take place from December 2015-March 2016; most students should not take these tests for real prior to March 2016). The structure of the day is as follows: the students will receive an overview of the test; they will take an abbreviated version of the new SAT; 12:00 pm lunch in the NCS cafeteria; and then they will take an abbreviated version of the ACT. Sophomores who wish to use their entitlement of 50% extra time will report at 9:00 am to the Study Hall; all other sophomores will report at 9:30 am to Trapier Theater, at St. Albans. The day will conclude at 3:00 pm for students who test with standard time (those who use 50% extra time will be dismissed at 3:30 pm). If a student has a conflict and cannot attend any portion of this event, her parent/guardian is asked to please email Ms. Brevard.
