Parking

Visitors to National Cathedral School and other institutions connected to the Washington National Cathedral should park on the grounds of the Cathedral Close. Since most surface spaces are assigned, we recommend parking in the Cathedral’s underground parking garage. Please follow posted signs, restrictions and speed limits to avoid fines and penalties.

Parking Garage
Enter from Wisconsin Avenue, between Massachusetts Avenue and Woodley Road. The garage has accessible parking spaces.

Parking Rates (may change at any time without notice)

6:00 am-11:00 p.m. Sunday: Free for services

When large events take place in the Cathedral, "event parking" may be in effect: a $10 flat rate (cash only) collected from vehicles upon entry. In this event, the garage exit gates will be raised to speed the departure of many cars.

Parking for NCS Athletic Events
D.C. zoning requires that parents, students, faculty, visiting teams and guests for NCS-hosted events in the Athletic Center are required to park Cathedral garage and not on neighboring streets. No one should park on Beauvoir Road, which runs past the Athletic Center up to Beauvoir School: Anyone parking along this road will be ticketed by Cathedral Police.

Additional Parking Information

List of 5 items.

  • Cathedral Event Parking

From time to time, because of large events taking place in the Cathedral, the Cathedral parking garage will institute “event parking” – meaning that a flat amount ($10) will be collected from vehicles upon entry. Gates will be up for exiting, which speeds the dispersal of large numbers of cars.
  • Surface Parking on Cathedral Grounds

Parking on the surface roads of the Cathedral Close is restricted for the use of employees and volunteers of, students enrolled in, and authorized visitors to PECF institutions and affiliates. Unrestricted parking on surface roads is available Monday through Friday after 3:30 pm, and all day on weekends. Surface roads close at 11:00 pm. No unauthorized overnight surface parking allowed.
  • Monthly Garage Parking

$236 per month for 24-hour access.

The Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation (PECF) owns and operates the car garage for the benefit of PECF institutions and affiliates located on the Cathedral Close. Parking is intended for employees and volunteers of, students enrolled in, and visitors to the Cathedral and schools. Special institutional mission requirements will occasionally supercede the parking hours and fees in effect, and may temporarily preclude visitor parking in the garage.
  • Parking for NCS Athletics

Under the terms of our neighborhood agreement, parents, students, faculty, visiting teams and guests for NCS-hosted events in the Athletic Center are required to park in the Cathedral parking garage and not on neighboring streets. After 3:30 pm on weekdays and all day on the weekends, parking is available as well as on the surface roads of the Cathedral grounds.

One exception: please do not park on the road that runs directly past the Athletic Center up to Beauvoir School: if you park there you will be ticketed by the Cathedral Foundation police.
  • Special Events

Special events such as concerts, lectures, and the annual Flower Mart may require pre-payment in cash upon entrance to the garage. The special event parking fee is $10, cash only, payable when you enter the garage.
