New Director of Choral Music

A choral singer, conductor, keyboardist, and teacher, Brandon Straub is currently director of choral music at Episcopal High School, associate conductor and pianist for the Choral Arts Society of Washington, interim associate organist and choir director at St. John’s Church, Lafayette Square, and a professional baritone for Washington National Cathedral.

At Episcopal since 2011, Mr. Straub has directed the school’s choral and a cappella groups, coordinated music for chapel services, served as music director for musicals, created a chapel song book, and organized annual choir tours and off-campus performances. He has taught Advanced Music Theory, Religious Thought in Music, and Introduction to the Arts, among other courses. For his labors, Episcopal awarded him the Young Professionals Award and the Faculty Special Contribution Award.

Mr. Straub previously taught at the Hill School in Pottstown, PA, where he held the Oaklawn Tuttle Chair of Vocal Music and served as school organist, and was director of music at the First Baptist Church of Ann Arbor.

He received, with high honors, his bachelor of music (in music education and voice) from Michigan State University, and two masters of music (in harpsichord performance and conducting) from the University of Michigan.
