STA Parent Education Event on Vaping: Oct. 16

Background on vaping: We’re hearing much in the news about the prevalence and dangers of vaping among teens and tweens. We already know that nicotine has a damaging effect on developing brains, rewiring them for further addiction, and there is emerging scientific evidence about how toxic chemicals in flavored vapes like Juul can cause cardiovascular damage and other serious side effects. The most recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention figures, already outdated, show that almost 4 million young people are using e-cigarettes like Juul with a shocking rate of growth: from 2017 to 2018, there was a 48 percent rise in use by Middle-School students.
