Craven '21 Lowers Her School Record in Swimming

Megan Craven '21 sliced a half-second off her school record in the 100-yard breaststroke, lowering the standard for the second time in as many weeks.

On Feb. 8, Craven took sixth place at the Washington Metro Championships, finishing in 1 minute, 5.54 seconds. The result improved both her school-record time and her placement: A week earlier at the Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim Dive League Championships, Craven finished in 1:06.04. And at the 2019 Metros meet, Craven took 14th place.

The WMPSSDL meet gathers the region's top independent-school and parochial-school swimmers and divers. NCS claimed seventh place as four individual swimmers — Craven, Rachel Yoon '20, and Katie Albert '23 — and three relay teams advanced to the finals. Craven took second place in the 100 breaststroke and fourth place in the 200 freestyle.

The Metros meet, meanwhile, includes competitors from private and public schools in the District and Maryland. Seven NCS swimmers qualified for this year's Metros meet, held at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center.

Congratulations to Megan and all the swimmers and divers for their performances at Metros and WMPSSDLs!
