Parent Lecture at STA: Sept. 15
STA and NCS parents are invited to the "Beyond Walls: Toward Cross-cutting Compassion" lecture by Wilhelm Verwoerd on Sept. 15 at 7:15 pm in St. Albans's Trapier Theater. It is free and open to the public. If you plan to attend, please send an email to rsvp@cathedral.org. On Sept. 16, Verwoerd will address a joint NCS-STA Upper School assembly.
Wilhelm Verwoerd grew up in apartheid-era South Africa in a white, Afrikaner family; his grandfather Hendrik Verwoerd was a former prime minister and a leading figure in the creation of apartheid. But Wilhelm Verwoerd went on to join the anti-apartheid African National Congress and, after apartheid was abolished, work as a researcher with South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
